3. Awarding of the Fugger Prize for Science

On the 4th of December, the Fugger Prize for Science was awarded to the physicist and materials scientist Dr Stephan Krohns for his outstanding dissertation on the topic of »Boundary surface polarisations in transition metal oxides: from basic research to application«. The award ceremony lecture was delivered by Prof. Manfred Hirt. Afterwards, guests were invited to a reception in the Seniorat chambers.

The Fugger foundations and the University of Augsburg, Core Competence Centre Finance & Information Management work together to award the »Fugger Prize for Science«. It is endowed with up to €10,000, which is »to be used only to support further public research« and is intended for emerging scientists at the University of Augsburg who do excellent research that addresses sustainability and social elements in the economy.
