The progenitor of the Fugger-Kirchberg-Weißenhorn line was Georg Fugger (1518-1569), second son of Raymund Fugger. Jakob Fugger the Rich had acquired Kirchberg Castle and County from King Maximilian I in 1507, together with the dominions of Weißenhorn and Pfaffenhofen. Since 1548 Kirchberg has been owned by the Raymund line. The castle is private property. No rooms are rented out in the castle for events.
